A DIY Christmas ornament task have been brewing in my head for a while when I noticed a bag of jenga blocks on certainly one of my thrift visits.

They have been perfect!

I had deliberate to paint them, then add a catchy Christmas word to each block.

But after I began considering the words I’d use, I had a higher idea.

I taken into consideration words from the unique Christmas tale and knew that is what I’d design this venture round.

I decided to go with a distressed, barely rustic theme, so I started out with DecoArt’s Yesteryear chalky finish in a unmarried coat.

The faded grey would be ideal for a distressed base and might mood the "clean" wooden colour.
GAMBAR3 After it dried, I added a single coat of Everlasting and let it dry.
Next, I designed a few stencils to healthy the jenga blocks.

I had 29 blocks, so I selected 29 keywords from the Christmas tale to stencil onto them.

Reading thru this beautiful account in no way receives old! That first Christmas night time turned into such an top notch present.

And I realized that this assignment become becoming greater than only a collection of Christmas adorns. It could additionally be the Christmas story hanging on the tree, and a consistent reminder of the actual that means of Christmas that could easily get overrun with all the flurries of the season.

I want I had thought of this at the same time as my kids had been nonetheless younger and will hold the ornaments whilst studying the passage of Scripture from Luke 2.
I chose to apply vinyl for this one in place of mylar. The stencils aren’t reusable but are loads less complicated to paintings with because the designs have been small and detailed.
I used DecoArt Black Tie satin acrylic to transfer the words to the blocks.
And then I distressed.

And distressed some extra.

I wanted mild getting old and glued with more nice sandpaper – 320 grit.

I’ll be honest – it took a while.

A lot of Christmas music and a variety of mugs of chai came about.
Finally, I attached small eye screws to the pinnacle. A strip of buffalo check ribbon round each new hanger changed into the precise finish.
I love how those DIY jenga Christmas adorns became out.
Happy Holiday crafting!

Live Creatively,
Karen
