Do you have a pile of scrap timber waiting to be used? Maybe you have babies gracing the halls and heart of your house and you’re seeking out decorations that if knocked over or touched can’t be harmed too much. Or perhaps you’re trying to find a neighbor or friend gift. These sweet little trees are positive to thieve your heart.
First let’s begin with our substances list.
• 1×2 timber board (or scrap portions)
• 2×2 wooden board (or scrap pieces)
• circular saw
• sand paper (220 grit)
• wood glue
• paint (inexperienced, white, brown)
You’ll want to begin through trimming down your scrap portions or slicing your forums. I use a circular saw. Cut the 1×2 boards at 2”, 3”, four”, 5”, 6” and 7” (those portions make the tree). Then reduce the 2×2 board at 2” (this piece is the bottom, or trunk, of the tree).
Once all my forums are reduce (I made a couple of bushes) I sand the rims and rough spots.
GAMBAR3 Then I glue them collectively. I like to position the glue at the smaller piece and then connect it to the larger piece. This is the easiest manner for me to gauge in which to position the glue and the way to area each piece.
Place the two portions collectively. I like to apply pressure for 10-15 seconds earlier than transferring on to including the next piece.
If the glue seeps out, I use a paper towel to wipe off the excess glue. Then I’m geared up to use the subsequent layer/piece.
I tip the tree the wrong way up add the glue onto the pinnacle piece then add the next layer, once more applying strain for approximately 10-15 seconds. Repeat this manner till all layers have been glued together besides the 2×2- base piece.
I allow my glue dry for a hour or so (now and again over night relying on how my day is shaping up to be). Once the glue is dry, I paint the trees white and unique sunglasses of inexperienced. You can use acrylic paint, chalk paint or what ever form of paint you choose. Make certain to color your 2×2 piece as well.
Once the timber are painted and dry, I glue the 2×2 inch piece onto the middle of the lowest of the tree. Then if my timber is dented, has knots or character spots, I use the sand paper and misery the rims. The very last contact is including ribbon to the tree to present it a bit bit of character. I use half” up to 1” wide ribbon. This is in which you could use your creativity and add glitter, flickers or bling anyway you like.
We attempted stacking the pieces flat in place of on their ends. They look like a corpulent tree. We used 1×2’s for these as nicely. We cut the pieces at 2”, three”, four”, 5”, 6”, 7”, and eight”. We determined a few famous person shape reduce outs at the craft keep and introduced them to the pinnacle. I wasn’t fond of how the stars appeared at the taller trees so I handiest added them to the chunky bushes. Again, be innovative and strive various things to see what you like best.
We had paint, sandpaper, the saw and wood glue already on hand, so the coat of this venture ended up being fairly cheaper. About $10 for wooden and several colorations of ribbon.
Lastly, enhance with them. We’ve placed them on our buffet in our front entry, used them on our eating desk for centerpieces, placed them on our mantle, grouped them on our stairs and even used them on our included porch.
